About Peter and Angie Vickery

We were both born in Harare, Zimbabwe and StoneAge is a family run business. It brings us much joy to know that not only are we exposing Shona Art to North America and the rest of the world, but that we are also Zimbabweans helping other Zimbabweans - We are firm believers in Fair Trade. Although Africa will always be a part of us, we also both cherish our home in Vancouver, Canada. Growing up watching the sculptors carve and seeing the beautiful work that they produce inspired us to collect Shona art for the past 25 years. As often as we can we travel back to Zimbabwe to visit our family and have one-on-one contact with many of our carvers. At present we work with over 250 sculptors and are proud of the various styles and types of stone, on display in our Gallery, where we have both abstract and traditional styles. It has always been a dream of ours to bring this form of art, not only to the avid collector, but also to the man in the street who would appreciate a good piece of art in their home or work place at an affordable price. All our sculptures are hand carved and highly sort after by collectors - No two sculptures are the same. We take pride in our ability to share our knowledge of the art, people, stone and country of Zimbabwe with our customers.

There are two words that are taken very seriously at StoneAge Art Company and they are "CUSTOMER SERVICE". We take care to help our customers find a piece of art that reflects their personal taste and budget. There are many of our customers who return over and over again and have started their own collections of Shona art.

The atmosphere in the gallery is relaxed and friendly, so if you are visitng or live in Vancouver please come in and see us at our gallery on Granville Island.

Just follow the signs, visible from Johnston Street, pointing toward the back of the Creekhouse. We are located downstairs from the SandBar Restaurant. If you are coming from the Market, walk along the boardwalk on the ocean and follow the signs located at the Backstage Theatre and AquaBus drop-off point.

Also, if you have an opportunity to visit the Granville Island Hotel, please don't forget to take time to see our display in the foyer and our large sculptures displayed on the fireplaces in the dining room.
